February, 2012

Dear Bavarian Princess Candidate:

As a Frankenmuth resident and a high school graduate, you are eligible for the 2012 Bavarian Princess program. It is our sincere hope that you will find it possible to participate. To indicate your willingness to serve as a candidate, please complete the questionnaire and return it with a photo of yourself to us no later than February 22, 2012. A high school graduation picture will be fine, as these photos will be for identification purposes only, and will not be a factor in the judging. The candidates will be judged on the basis of personality, poise, appearance, parental involvement and knowledge of Frankenmuth.

The Civic Events Council recognizes the time and dedication the Princess and her Court are asked to give during their reign, so educational scholarships are being offered again this year.

Being a Bavarian Princess is not only an honor and a privilege, but also carries considerable responsibility. You will be representing the people of Frankenmuth at many functions throughout the State during the entire summer and late spring. This includes appearances during the weekend of the Bavarian Festival and possible radio and television appearances prior to and during the Festival. There will be appearances at such events as the Holland Tulip Festival and the National Cherry Festival in Traverse City. In addition, the Princess and her Court will truly represent Frankenmuth by making appearances at various events such as the Summer Music Fest, Oktoberfest and Zehnder’s Snowfest.

Most of these activities are scheduled for weekends. It is important for you to realize that the Bavarian Princess and both members of her Court must be present at all functions, to which they have been committed. Make tentative plans with your employer, if necessary, in order to fulfill your complete Bavarian Princess obligations. Also, keep in mind that your parents will play a large role in your activities, such as chaperoning and driving for parade trips. Make sure they also agree to this commitment.

The preliminary judging segment of this competition will be a Candidate’s Tea to be held on Saturday February 25, 2012 at 10:00am at Frankenmuth Bavarian Inn Restaurant. The Princess Selection Committee has asked community leaders to judge the candidates based on a brief interview. They will use this opportunity to become acquainted with the candidates before selecting the three finalists.

After the three finalists are chosen, a photo session at Rummel Studios and a brief fitting with the dress sponsor for 2012 will follow.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at (989)239-7677 or email marshallabby83@gmail.com, I thank you in advance for your time and commitment, and wish you the best!

 Sincerely,

 Abby Marshall
