Willkommen to Frankenmuth’s 54th Annual Bavarian Festival It’s not just an event… it’s a feeling of "Gemutlichkeit", combined with the warmth and friendship of Michigan’s charming Bavarian Village. It all started in 1959 with a Grand Opening Celebration of the Bavarian style addition to Fischer’s Hotel on Main Street. Back then "Tiny" & Dorothy Zehnder gambled on "Bavarianizing" their restaurant and re-naming it Frankenmuth Bavarian Inn. Several years later the event out-grew the parking of the restaurants. The Civic Events Council of Frankenmuth took over the operation of what has become an annual Bavarian Festival! Come and enjoy the Gemutlichkeit of Old Bavaria blended. Bavarian Festival is not just an event...it's a feeling, a spirit, a happy mood combined with the warmth and friendship of Michigan's Little Bavaria. The Bavarian Festival has been voted "Top 5 Festivals in the State of Michigan" by AAA's Michigan Living Magazine. Visitors of all ages are invited to hear Bavarian music played by authentically dressed German bands, watch two outstanding parades, enjoy an expanded midway with rides and games and enjoy exciting dance music in our Harvey Kern Pavilion. Saturday's Kinder Tag (Kid's Day) is sure to have something for children of all ages. Participate in face painting, or simply take in the hands-on craft area. Taste buds are tempted to their limit with a variety of delicious German foods and desserts. And to top it all off, plenty of refreshing ice-cold beer - Imported and Domestic!
Each year, over 100,000 people enjoy the annual Sunday Bavarian Parade, which is being held on June 10th, 2012. This year's parade is no different - it will feature over 100 entries which will include marching bands, beautifully decorated floats, dance clubs, visiting dignitaries, entertainers, royalty and our newly crowned Bavarian Princess and her Court. The Sunday parade provides a wonderful beginning to a fun packed day at Heritage Park where all the festival events and entertainment are held - Free admission for the day!
